Ferda Farm
Hello to everybody! Welcome to our website and our farm! This is Ferda Farm on the Highwood north bench in Chouteau County, Montana USA.
February already! The Superbowl is done and my team pick didn't win! :( Oh well! At least it was a good game to watch!
We're still short of moisture though the tempertures lately have been almost shirtsleeve! It has cooled off a bit the last couple of days, hanging right around the freezing mark. It's supposed to be warming up to the 40's again in a few days though.
We worked the cows the morning of February 5th to shave their udders so we can see them bagging up to predict calving better. Also to make it easier for the new calves to find the right thing to suck on instead of getting hair! The cows bahaved well and we were done quickly. Hooray! Now if we can just have nice weather for calving...
Phil's been back to working in his new shop. He's putting up studs so we can add some insulation and spots to hang things on walls. He's also adding some wiring so we will have electricity and outlets in various places. He's already got the lights all wired and that sure makes a difference in being able to see!
There's not a lot going on at the farm this time of year so news is short but rest assured there will be plenty of news as spring comes along!
